Still making headlines is the embattled Nigerian singer, Dammy Krane, who just got cut loose from a US jail after pleading not guilty to the charges labeled against him by TapJets Company. However, the incident has given rise to blasts from the past, as the real reason behind his exit from 2face’s record label, Hypertek Digital, has been laid bare.
According to an insider who made the revelation, Dammy Krane was expelled from 2Baba’s Hypertek music imprint two years back (2015) after he breached his contract with the label by doing collaborations with other artistes against his terms of contract with Hypertek Digital.
The source said Dammy Krane had been warned severally to desist from such act but never paid any attention to the warnings. And since 2baba is a hater of controversy and undue attention, he kicked him out of the label but kept it on the low. That was when Krane’s problem started, as he commenced scouting for new sponsors to push his music, leading to his trip to the US which was a bid to salvage his career. But it ended in his arrest.
Absolute discretion had been maintained by both the singer and his former label as a means of damage control on their images. But a source has now spelled out the reason why Krane was expelled from Hypertek. He said;
“Dammy Krane had left Tuface’s Hypertek record since February 2015. Tuface is trying to build a reputable company and they do not want any negative news. That is why they did not announce his exit from the label. They had issues with him over the way he was doing collaborations with other artistes. It was not part of the contract that he signed. So technically it is a breach of contract. They gave him several warnings which he did not adhere to.”
“They then had no choice but to terminate the contract they had with him. They did not make any noise about it because they did not want anything that would dent his image and that of the company. He was in the US to get a new investor to help his career and also shoot some videos because he already had new material. He was also meant to use the opportunity to embark on his US tour.”
